The 7th Experts' Forum meeting took place in Vilnius on 15 and 16 November 2011. The meeting was dedicated to presenting the approuved EIGE's Annual Work Programme 2012 and discuss the main findings of EIGE's Second Ex-Ante Evaluation. Furthermore, at this meeting was discussed and gathered Experts' Forum Members views on (i) EIGE's work with Good Practices in Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Training - Framework for Assessment and Criteria;
For the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) “Making equality between women and men a reality for all Europeans and beyond” is what we strive to. The awareness of Gender Equality questions is very important and media are among the ways of creating awareness. EIGE is currently developing its Communication Strategy and invites media and communications persons for an important two day discussion in Vilnius on how gender equality and the media work together.
On 20-21 October 2011, in Cracow (Poland), the expert conference “Mechanisms for reconciling professional and family roles for women and men as a chance to actively participate in the labour market” took place. EIGE presented the results of the report on reconciliation of work, private and family life prepared in close cooperation with the Polish Government in support of the review of implementing the Beijing Platform for Action by the current Polish Presidency of the EU Council.
The fight against Trafficking in Human Beings (THB) is an important topic for the EU. Together with other EU agencies EIGE joint the 5th EU Anti-Trafficking Day held in Warsaw on October 18 under the slogan “Together Against Trafficking in Human Beings.” The event organised under the auspices of the Polish Presidency brought together policy-level, law-enforcement and civil society decision makers along with seven Justice and Home Affairs Agencies of the EU to discuss issues affecting the fight against Trafficking in Human Beings (THB).
The overall objective of the meeting is to enhance the capacities of EIGE's Operations staff in providing technical assistance to the EU institutions and Member States in the development of tools and methods for implementing GM policies.
The seminar will focus on important questions regarding the introduction of the dimension of Economy in the EU Gender Equality Index (EU GEI) How to include the dimension Economy in the EU GEI? How to measure it?

In 2010, EIGE has established the Working Group on the Beijing indicators in order to facilitate the development of reliable, harmonised and qualitative information necessary for the follow-up of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA) implementation.The third meeting of Working Group on the Beijing indicators will be organised on 15th September 2011 in Vilnius. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the results of several of EIGE's studies in the area of implementation and follow-up of the BPfA, and to present EIGE's plans on providing support to the forthcoming Presidencies of the Council of EU, namely Denmark and Cyprus.
On 30 of June, the conference “Women Enhancing Democracy: Best Practices" will be organised by Lithuania, the chair of the “Community of Democracies”. The event will be opened by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and the President of Finland Tarja Halonen. It will take place at the Lithuanian President’s Office in Vilnius. Government officials and activists will participate at a range of roundtable sessions, with a focus on strategies or tools that can be used to increase women’s participation in consolidated democracies as well as in emerging democracies and transitional governments.
The Women's Democracy Network (WDN) is bringing a delegation of 11 women to Lithuania to hold the annual event - Legislative Caucus Conference on June 29, 2011. A group of WDN members from around the world, members of parliament and the executive branch, political activists and business representatives, are gathering in Vilnius for an intensive program of meetings and seminars on June 29.
The 6th Experts' Forum meeting took place in Vilnius on 28 and 29 June 2011 The meeting was dedicated to presenting the Annual Activity Report and Annual Report for June - December 2011, update the developments in 2011 and to present the draft Annual Work Programme 2012. Furthermore, at this meeting was discussed and gathered Experts' Forum members views on (i) the role of experts involved in EIGE's work and various activites;
On June 22nd EIGE will host a meeting with OECD, in Vilnius. EIGE and OECD will present their action plan to promote gender equality. EIGE will introduce its focal areas and relevant activities planned and on going, presenting "Promoting Equality within Annual Work Programme: Good practices, tools, methods and Gender Equality Index". OECD will introduce the “Gender Initiative: strengthening equality in education, employment and entrepreneurship” Project.
