    This year, the UN Food Systems Summit calls for “bold actions to transform the way the world produces and consumes food” to advance the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Gender equality is a precondition to achieving these goals and generating sustainable and resilient agricultural and food systems. Join us as we explore progress in research that helps understand and advance positive synergies among resilient agricultural, rural and food systems, and equality in societies globally.

  • Regional Conference on Gender Mainstreaming in Migration

    At first glance, gender and migration are viewed as two separate topics with no connection between them. However, one does not need to look far to see that these two topics are interlinked. The gender concept is still associated with many prejudices and stereotypes. For example, many perceive it as a phenomenon that is exclusively focused on women and “women's issues”.That is not the case, as gender applies to both men and women and is equally an issue that affects both genders.

    Virtual Roundtable: Addressing gender-based violence and sexual harassment in academia and research organisations The goal of this roundtable is to familiarise the participants with theoretical and practical implications connected to the application of different conceptualisations of GBV to promote institutional change in academic/research institutions.   • "Quality Work for a Quality Life" High-Level Conference

    The EU Presidency of Slovenia is organising a high-level conference on 7 October 2021 on the provision of quality work through changes in the balance between professional and family life, lifelong acquisition of skills and knowledge, and ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, including in the professions of the future and new forms of work. Discussions will focus on a quality work environment, taking into account increasing digitalisation, automation and robotisation in the world of work.

  • An introduction to the Gender Equality Audit and Monitoring (GEAM) tool

    This online course introduces basic concepts regarding online survey deployment for Gender Equality, including data protection, available technical solutions, measurement issues. Its aim is to explain the architecture of the GEAM infrastructure. The GEAM is a framework to generate and report high-quality data on gender equality without in-depth previous knowledge to design and implement surveys. It is taking place online, on 8 October 2021, 10:00-12:15.

  • 26th Experts' Forum meeting

    26th Experts' Forum Meeting will take place virtually on 7 October 2021. The last meeting of the IV term of the Experts’ Forum will be dedicated to discuss EIGE’s current and upcoming projects as well as the recommendations for the V term of Experts’ Forum. Experts will be introduced to the results of the project on Anti-gender equality narratives and violence against women in the media and discuss the next steps in this field of work.

    The UN World Data Forum brings together data and statistical experts and users from governments, civil society, the private sector, donor and philanthropic bodies, international and regional agencies, the geospatial community, the media, academia and professional bodies. Data experts and users gather to spur data innovation, mobilize high-level political and financial support for data and build a pathway to better data for sustainable development.

  • How to calculate the Gender Equality Index: Training for Bosnia and Herzegovina

    The annual Gender Equality Index is not only an important tool for policymaking for the EU Member States but also for candidate countries and potential candidates. This is why the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is training members of the Gender Equality Agency, the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other partners on how to calculate their own index.

  • 8th United Nations Global Forum on Gender Statistics

    The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in collaboration with the Swiss Confederation, is organizing the 8th Global Forum on Gender Statistics under the Global Gender Statistics Programme and the guidance of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics (IAEG-GS). The Forum will bring together producers, users and communicators of gender statistics from national and international statistical offices, other government agencies, international organizations, academia, civil society, private sector, media and the donor community.

  • Setting the Scene: EU and Gender Equality in the time of Recovery

    The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) is organising a webinar to improve gender equality in times of recovery from disaster. The CPMR is a network of more than 150 regional authorities from 24 EU Member States and beyond, acting as a forum of regions and lobby towards the EU institutions. In 2020, the regions raised interest in working together on Gender Equality, which led to the creation of the CPMR Gender Task Force piloted by the Basque Country, aiming at reflecting on the contribution regions could have in the discussions and actions for Gender Equality, in particular at the EU level.

  • EU Agencies' Workshop: Moving towards Gender Balance

    EIGE's Gender Statistics Database shows that 34.7 % of the highest decision-making positions within EU Agencies are held by women and 65.3 % by men. To reach gender balance among top positions, the EU Agencies Network is organising a dedicated workshop. Barbara Limanowska, EIGE's Team Leader for Gender Mainstreaming, presents EIGE’s Institutional Transformation Toolkit and how it can be used to boost gender equality within an organisation.
