The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) is organising a webinar to improve gender equality in times of recovery from disaster. The CPMR is a network of more than 150 regional authorities from 24 EU Member States and beyond, acting as a forum of regions and lobby towards the EU institutions. In 2020, the regions raised interest in working together on Gender Equality, which led to the creation of the CPMR Gender Task Force piloted by the Basque Country, aiming at reflecting on the contribution regions could have in the discussions and actions for Gender Equality, in particular at the EU level.
EIGE's Gender Statistics Database shows that 34.7 % of the highest decision-making positions within EU Agencies are held by women and 65.3 % by men. To reach gender balance among top positions, the EU Agencies Network is organising a dedicated workshop. European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is organising the Regional Thematic Workshop "Gender-Sensitive Communication" for the EU candidate countries and potential candidates in Western Balkans and Turkey, under the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funded by the European Commission. The workshop will be held online for two half-days (10:00-14:00 CET) on 15-16 September 2021. Presentations, discussions and practical training sessions of the workshop will foster a common understanding of gender equality terms in our everyday work.

The Fomen project aims at promoting gender equality and violence prevention through the work with men with migration backgrounds around challenging own bias on masculinity, gender roles and diversity, using an interculturally sensitive approach, respectful of different beliefs, values and specific experiences. The FOMEN Leaders of Change training is organised in the form of group discussion, and targets men with migration backgrounds willing to become agents of change for gender equality within their communities.

WHY: Gender Equality Plans (GEP) are a precondition for research and higher education institutions to apply for EC Horizon Europe research funding starting from the 2021 funding cycle. This summer course is targeted at participants from higher education institutions and aims to provide the basic skills and knowledge to develop and implement GEPs. The course builds on a structural understanding of gender inequalities, stereotypes and biases in research.

The meeting will gather key national stakeholders and experts from the region working in the area of combating VAW and administrative data collection, stemming from international standards.
