EIGE's Director discussing with forum participants

EIGE’s first-ever Gender Equality Forum came to a close on 25th October.

EIGE launched its Gender Equality Index 2022 and many inspiring sessions and workshops were organised at the Forum. Gender equality advocates, EU and national policy makers, experts and many others shared their expertise and exchanged views on the most pressing issues affecting progress in gender equality.

Many of the participants took up the commitment to define their #3StepsForward.

EIGE Director and the Chair of the Forum, Carlien Scheele, expressed much hope for the future in her closing statement: “I hope what you have learned at the Forum has given you a greater purpose towards that goal. It’s doable. You can do it. We’re in the eye of a storm. But together we’re stronger. And if we continue to form new coalitions, share and support each other, we will prevail.”

EIGE’s next step moving forward from the Gender Equality Forum is to put learnings and insights from the powerful conversations and results from the Forum sessions into a Chair Statement. This statement will build up to the next Gender Equality Forum in 2024. It will be published around 10 December 2022.
