Activity of Rikskriscentrum (in English: National Association of Swedish Crisis' Centres)
Aims and objectives
Rikskriscentrum is a nationwide umbrella organisation for professional crisis centres for men. Its function is to act as a central administrative body for Sweden's crisis centres for men. Today, there are 13 associated crisis centres. Any centre working in the field of crisis and violent behaviour with respect to men where treatment is carried out by psychologists, social workers or similar professionals may join the association. The aims of the National Association are to:
- Work towards equality between men and women
- Be a knowledge forum for centres working with men in crisis
- Place a strong focus on preventive measures and treatment of men's problems in terms of aggression and domestic violence
- Acquire new knowledge on the subject and pass it on to society at large
- Support the activities of existing crisis centres and newly-established centres, as well as to work to increase the number of professional crisis centres
- Act as the referral body on issues concerning the knowledge scope of the National Association
