Olga Sommerová
Olga Sommerová is a documentary director. She is interested in social topics, inter-personal relations and also topics concerning situation of women. She analyzes all these topics in her films. She has made a film called What Women Dream About which was followed with three books with the same title. She has also published book called What Men Dream About. She actively declares her sympathy to feminism. She has won many festival awards for her films. Olga Sommerová is one of the best known documentary director and also feminist in the Czech Republic.
Director and Lecturer Born in Prague in 1949, she graduated at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU), Department of Documentary Films. She is interested in documentary films with social issues and inter-personal relations, woman’s issues, later she made films on significant people of social and arts lives. Between 1991 and 2002 she was a lecturer at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, in 1994 she became the head of the Department of Documentary Films.
