Immaculada Amat Amigo & Joana Amat Amigo
Immaculada Amat Amigo and Joana Amat Amigo are the CEOs of Barcelona-based real estate company “AMAT Immobiliiaris”. The company they lead has excelled in moments of severe crisis for a number of reasons: particularly for the excellence of the services they provide, the manner in which they run it and their active engagement in social activities.
“AMAT Immobiliiaris” has grown exponentially and opened offices outside Spain (Bulgaria). More than 80% of employees at Immaculada and Joana’s company are women, with the highest ethical standards observed. The company is a model for enabling the reconciliation of family and work life; employees have continuous access to further training and the company is committed to innovation and sustainable development.
The Amat sisters are champions of social corporate responsibility. They engage their company in all sorts of socially related issues.
Their profound ethical convictions are emblematic of the company. One of their best-known mediations took place in 2013, when their intervention prevented 78 bankrupt families from being evicted from their apartments in the suburbs of Barcelona. They intervened decisively in negotiating lower rents and better terms for the tenants. The fact that, as a real estate company, “AMAT Immobiliiaris” leads this type of positive process in very difficult times (instead of sitting at the other side of the table with the creditors, banks or financial companies), shows how exceptional the company really is. The Amat sisters are active speakers in business schools and at a great variety of events, in order to promote an ethical and successful business culture.
Immaculada and Joana’s professional excellence and social commitment have been recognised with several awards. In 2003, they received the European Citizen Award and the Family Business and Institutional Award for their company policies in favour of reconciliation of work and family life. In 2009, they were given the Gold Medal at the Europe Forumfor their professionalism, humanity and Europeanism.
In 2012, they received the FUNDE award of the Association of Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Directors.
