Migration
Due to the increased number of refugees and migrants coming to Europe in recent years, migration has become a key priority of the European Union. A person’s gender shapes every stage of the migration experience. Gender affects the reasons behind migrating, the experiences faced during the journey, and integration and labour opportunities at the destination. Women face a higher risk of vulnerability and exclusion, and policies should address women’s and men’s different needs.
