Activity of Association for Prevention & Handling of Violence in the Family
Aims and objectives
Preventing and tackling domestic violence. It is the only association in Cyprus that has a helpline to inform callers about their rights with regard to violence they may experience in the home. It liaises with the Police as well as Social Welfare officers in order to provide as much support as possible to those who need it. In addition, the Association provides a shelter for women and their children who are in immediate danger and assist them in finding their feet again and taking the next steps.

In 2007 the Association launched a pilot programme, 'Love Without Hurt', aimed at empowering men and women in their relationships by breaking down negative emotions, attitudes and behaviours. The programme was initially founded in Maryland by Dr Steven Stosny and was adopted by the Association. It has been running since 2007.
