Activity of Department of Experimental Clinical and Health Psychology
Aims and objectives
The programme is aimed at implementing municipal policies on gender equality. The main purpose of the organisation is to provide services to individuals (and professionals) in the overlapping fields of justice and health. Since the early 2000s, it focuses its services on people facing domestic and intra-familial violence. It addresses the perpetrators, who participate in accountability groups. Over the year, Praxis meets between 1,000 and 1,200 people throughout the French-speaking region of Belgium (4,500,000 residents). 80% have been ordered to attend by the courts. Others attend "voluntarily". 98% of our groups are men. The gender approach is not the main reference, but it is integrated into the overall approach
