OFAP - Observatório das Famílias e das Políticas de Família (Observatory of Families and Family Policies)
OFAP - The Observatory of Families and Family Policies was created in 2010 and is integrated in the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), University of Lisbon, which is responsible for the respective scientific coordination. It works in partnership with CIES - Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, of the University Institute of Lisbon. Its main objective is to deepen the existing knowledge on families and family policies in Portugal and disseminate it. It follows the trends in family structures and the respective impact on demographic patterns. It also monitors the legal framework (including government initiatives) in terms of parental leaves, family policies, financial allowances, fiscal and social policies aimed to promote work-family life balance, parental rights and family-related benefits. And it provides updated data in relation to the taking-up of parental leaves, social benefits, family resources, childcare and eldercare facilities.
