CGTP - IN - Confederação Geral de Trabalhadores Portugueses - Intersindical Nacional (General Confederation of Portuguese Workers)
CGTP is the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers, legally established after the democratic revolution, in 1974. It has the largest share of union membership in the country, in particular in manufacturing and in some private sectors (Eurofound report). CGTP and UGT are the only trade union confederations represented in the Standing Committee for Social Concertation (CPCS - Commission Permanente de Concertação Social). It is a member of CITE's tripartite structure and has played a key role as a partner in collaborative projects focused on the promotion of gender equality in work and employment, protection of parental rights, and reconciliation of professional and family life. In this regard, the main player has been CIHM - The Commission for Equality between Men and Women, which works as an internal department of CGTP.
