CES - Centro de Estudos Sociais (Centre for Social Studies)

CES is part of the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra. It is a scientific institution devoted to research and advanced training in the area of the social sciences and humanities. The research groups cover different topics, including those related to citizenship, rights and justice, social inequalities, social policies for citizenship; social risks and vulnerability, gender and the labour market, gender and welfare. It has been involved in the development of scientific research projects; publication of articles in national and international scientific journals and books; seminars, conferences and workshops; supervision of master’s and doctoral theses; public policies evaluation, consulting and training.
