National Human Development Report: Romania 1999
Raportul Dezvoltării Umane – România 1999
The 1999 NHDR focused on the effects of the transition process in the different dimensions of human development in Romania. The report pointed to overall negative economic trends, a deficit in resources allocated for human development, a decline of the internal production and the growth of disparities and poverty. It also recommended a set of human development policies that could address the challenges in a more proactive and systemic manner. The report concluded that, despite some progress in macro-economic activities and indicators, sustained improvements in human development were still a challenge for Romanian policy makers.
