This first annual report on the strategy to tackle poverty and social exclusion has set out a threefold framework based on:• tackling the causes of poverty and social exclusion, not just the symptoms;• creating a fairer society in which everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential; and • investing in individuals and communities to equip them to take control of their lives. This report represents an initial ‘audit’ of the extent of the problem, and the measures to tackle it
