In Luxembourg, part-time employment in total employment has doubled over the last decade.The aims of the paper is to provide a better understanding of part-time employment. The paper analyses part-time employment from three differenct aspects: organization of working time (schedule, extra hours), the tenure (permanent vs temporary contract) and the employment trajectory (such as a change of job in the past 12 months, looking for a new job). The paper identifies four groups which are divided into two main trends: chosen part-time that is deliberately by the employee (73% of employees working part-time are in this case) and non choosen part-time (27%).
