Gender of Journalism
The book explores the conflicted relationship of journalism and gender. Genderedness of journalist institutions goes unnoticed and journalism is rarely understood as a part of construction of gender. Journalistic practices are gendered too. Gender equality has started to play a bigger role in journalistic institutions. Writers of this book propose that journalism should be seen as one part of gender technology. By recognizing its part in construction of gender as a societal and cultural practice, journalism can break free from traditional gender divisions.
