Difficult but doable : good practices for equality work, Monimutkaista mutta mahdollista:Hyviä käytäntöjä tasa-arvotyöhön

This study covers a period of 30 years during which more than 300 equality projects focusing on education, training and the development of a more equal society have been funded in Finland. How come that inequality still persists? That was the question a small group of researchers tried to answer by analysing success factors for mainstreaming and sustainability of gender equality projects, whilst at the same time looking into the reasons for their disappearance or failure. The report shows how concepts to remedy to various aspects of gender inequalities and discrimination have been developed by projects that were carried out more than 20 or even 30 years ago – through measures that are very similar to what is now being undertaken in the framework of EQUAL. This is true for models launched in the 1980s to widen the career choices of girls and boys that were aimed at "building bridges" between the world of work and the school system, and also for "working life equality projects", targeted at increasing women's access to the labour market in general and to non-traditional careers specifically and also at dismantling the gender pay gap.
