Fathers and parental leave: slow steps towards dual earner/dual carer family model in Estonia
The aim of the dissertation was to examine the movement of Estonian society towards the dual earner/dual carer model, more precisely, the dual carer aspect of the model and the fathers’ use of parental leave were to focus. The dissertation investigated the process behind the development of Estonian leave policies and analysed the schemes from gender equality perspective; analysed the decision-making process of fathers and families when deciding if the father uses the parental leave or not. The study also suggested ways of increasing the father's participation in the leave.
