Women's rights thematic working group of the Human Rights Roundtable
Aims and objectives
The aim of the thematic working group is to provide opportunity for women's rights NGOs to discuss legal and policy proposals and comment on them.
Results and impact
The thematic working group had its first meeting in February 2013 and the next is scheduled for May. As the topic of discussion for the next meeting is new legislation on domestic violence that has already been submitted to Parliament, the working group's role as a consultative body is in question, and it is not clear which governmental organisations they give advice for.

The Human Rights Working Group, an interministerial forum, was established by the government resolution no. 1039/2012 (II. 22.). It decided on the setting up of a Human Rights Roundtable as a consultative forum for NGOs. All NGOs willing to participate had to go through an application and selection process. The Human Rights Roundtable later has set up thematic working groups, among them the Women's Rights thematic working group, with the participation of several women's and gender NGOs.
