Bundesinitiative Gender Budgeting (BiGBudget)
Initiative gender budgeting (BiGBudget)
Aims and objectives
To convince the federal government to take concete steps to implement gender budgeting in Germany
Results and impact
There have been no initiatives by the federal government to comprehensively implement gender budgeting. On 7 November 2012 the Federal Government officially stated that gender budgeting is not considered a suitable tool to support the work towards gender equality. It is argued that gender budgeting causes extraordinary bureaucratic costs and that the principle of gender mainstreaming to which the ministries are already obliged already includes budget decisions.
