The Dutch Government carried out the Prive Geweld - Publieke Zaak (‘Private Violence - Public Issue') programme from 2002 to 2008. This interdepartmental programme, which required the cooperation of six ministries and many national and local organisations, contained numerous measures for improving the fight against domestic violence. FGM is considered as an issue for which a separate policy needs to be developed and does not form part of the policy Domestic Violence, hence this programme refers to the note of July 6 2001 to the Tweede Kamer where the policy on FGM is detailed (POL_04)
