The information was last updated in 2013 and may not accurately represent the present situation. It makes a reference to the United Kingdom as a member of the European Union and was published before the UK's withdrawal from the European Union on the 31 January 2020. 

The motion documents how a Commission to define a national project against FGM was active from 1999 to 2001, and was then broke up with the new government; it asks the government to establish a new Commission for taking up new actions based on raising awareness and involving migrant women's gnus as well as through International Cooperation programmes and Foreign Affairs initiatives. Criminal law is not particularly emphasized as a tool: the only reference to it is in the introductory analysis of the motion when the MP states that FGM are an underground phenomenon also due to the fact that there isn't any specific crime related to FGM, but it is not reaffirmed as an action to be undertaken.
