The enquiry reports the 2 court cases for FGM in Milano, frames the whole issue in its complexity and recalls the fact that the lack of information is mainly due to the absence of a specific legislation. The specific question which is raised is about the establishment of a National Commission for the Prevention of FGM, set up in 1999 by the Ministry for Equal Opportunities and then abolished by the present government which it would be urgent to renominate in order to design an overall project for the prevention and contrast of FGM.
