Protecting women against violence Analytical study on the effective implementation of Recommendation Rec(2002)5 on the protection of women against violence in Council of Europe member States
The information was last updated in 2013 and may not accurately represent the present situation. It makes a reference to the United Kingdom as a member of the European Union and was published before the UK's withdrawal from the European Union on the 31 January 2020.
The present study aims to assess implementation across Europe in the main areas taking account of the diversity of conditions in the member states. For an overall picture, this report has focussed on main areas where action is needed in all countries: legal and policy measures, support and protection for victims, data collection, training and awareness raising. The objective is to assess progress and problems in addressing all forms of violence by intimate partners and family members as well as all sexual coercion and violation. The analysis is made more specific and practical by using concrete examples.
