Guide to the empowerment of immigrant women against gender violence
The guide collects definitions, advices and comments divided in 20 issues regarding violence, economic rights, rights of the administrative regulation, state and regional legislation, access to resources, etc., in order to empower women through knowledge of the rights they have and allow multipliers trigger processes of empowerment. It focuses on gender violence detection, health assistance and protection, among other issues. It is a significant tool as it focuses on the situation of vulnerability of migrant women.
Aims and objectives
The Guide is intended as a tool to contribute to the removal of gender violence and aiming at promoting awareness linked processes among women in general and foreign women in particular. In this context, it aims to inform about rights and resources to professionals involved with this group as to their own immigrant women victims of gender violence. It is based on a research which confirmed the absence of sufficient information on domestic violence and immigrant women. Empowerment, in this context, is understood as the process of awareness of the individual and community strengths and skills to assert women/s rights. It is addressed to the process through which women regain prominence in the management of life and escape from the submissions to address violence.
