National Campaign to prevent gender based violence -“Silence is not gold” (“Šutnja nije zlato”)
The campaign has been carried out with a financial help of European Commission, Ministry of Science, Education and Sport and CARE International.
It included following activities:
? Research (in order to gain information on recognition, understanding and frequency of gender based violence among adolescents)
? Media campaign based on research results (the main goal was to raise public awareness, especial of youth on different types of violence while the main themes of campaign were: family violence, violence in relationship/rape at date and human trafficking; TV spots have been broadcasted and different print materials have been distributed e.g. billboards, city-lights, journal advertisements; campaign web page have been issued)
? Education and information (teachers have participated at seminars in order to enhance their skills and knowledge on gender based violence in order to work more effectively with young people)
? Creative workshops with young people on the issue of gender based violence (after the teachers have been educated, in the following period of five months they have realised at least one project on the issue of gender based violence with their students e. g. film, comic, play…; that has been presented at final gathering and on the CD)
? Public discussion with known young people
? Presentation of work of young people (at the final ceremony their works have been awarded)
? Advocating and public policies (inclusion of gender perspective in different prevention programs for youth)

Aims and objectives
? to raise awareness on the need for elimination of gender stereotypes and others causes of gender based violence among youth
? to raise awareness on responsibility of youth who are going to participate actively in decision making process in the field of gender equality in the future
? to promote values of gender equality in attitudes and behaviour of youth
Results and impact
? Research results on recognition, understanding and frequency of gender based violence among adolescents used in public campaign and planning of education programs
? 60 teachers educated on use of creative techniques in work with youth on prevention of gender based violence
? Exchange of ideas and practices between 60 schools included in activities of prevention of gender based violence
? 1200 of youth gained knowledge and awareness on gender based violence and campaign contributed to the changes in their attitude and behaviour regarding the gender based violence
? 250 000 of youth informed on gender based violence through a webpage
? Improved collaboration with institutions and schools in the way which allows exchange of experiences and information and ensure mutual support
? Visibility of campaign contributed to the awareness raising and understanding of gender based violence
? Distribution of knowledge and good practices in region
? Wider public has been awaked for the issues of gender based violence and the importance of its prevention
