Obstacles to protect girls at risk of FGM: Views from the child protection sector and health professionals (National Report Belgium)
The report is part of a multi-country project, which took place in two phases between 2003 and 2009. The research of the first phase showed that different sectors need to be properly trained for the further implementation of the criminal and child protection laws. The second phase aimed to tackle the poor implementation of laws by enhancing the capacities of professionals to identify and properly deal with FGM in 5 EU countries. Through a series of workshops for professionals from various sectors, information and training was provided. This report represents the results of the workshops held in Belgium.
