Quality assurance process
Trend analysis to check consistency of information over a time period.
No information. All information is based on actual reports and hence no computations or estimates need to be performed. National data is 'limited' to the number of reported cases. This does not necessarily imply the number of victims/offenders.
Good. As an overarching limitation one may refer to the fact that under-reporting of such cases can never be determined. In terms of the strength of the current data source, there is a common database at a national level where all cases are reported and hence consistency in data collection is ensured.
Good. Live updates to the system are performed, thus there is no time lag.
- Over time
AT EU level there is no regulation which determines the way ahead on crime statistics and all information is provided by gentleman's agreement. Work associated with the safety survey (SASU) has been put to a stop and the domain is no longer on the priority list at EU level. Consequently, it is reflecting itself nationally.
