The Journalist Thematic Network brings together journalists from the EU Member States. This is the second meeting of the year and will provide a rich source of information on the latest developments in gender equality in Europe.

Day 1: The meeting marks the launch of EIGE’s report on ‘Gender, Poverty and Intersecting Inequalities’, prepared for the Slovak Presidency of the EU. There will be a focus on some of the more specific groups at risk of poverty including:

  • Lone parents
  • Migrants
  • Young and older people

EIGE’s expert will be there to present the findings and answer questions.

Day 2: The day will start with a focus on violence against women. In this session, we provide the latest country information, complemented by real stories from women working with victims of domestic violence in Slovakia. In the afternoon there will be a field trip to a theatre group working with homeless women and men in Bratislava – an example of a positive approach to tackling poverty.
