The European Commission organises the launch of its campaign to promote Women in Research and Innovation.

The objective is to encourage more girls to take an interest in science at school and to engage young women in scientific research careers, a field where they remain underrepresented in Europe.

The launch event will take place at the European Parliament in Brussels on 21 June 2012, from 14.30 to 17.00. It will be chaired by  Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, the Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science and will also involve Members of the European Parliament and inspirational women scientists. The event will mark the beginning of an extensive campaign to raise awareness of gender equality and the gender dimension in research and innovation.

After the Conference, a networking event at 18.30 will give you the opportunity to meet some of the role models of the campaign and associations involved in gender, education and science.

You can egister your participation on our campaign website before 15 June 2012.
