This research note provides an overview of EU policy and the situation in relation to pensions throughout the Member States. It then contextualises the gender gap in pensions in the context of the core domains of the Gender Equality Index and describes current inequalities in relation to economic independence. It concludes with a discussion on challenging current gender inequalities to eradicate the gender gap in pensions in the future.
The gender gap in pensions in the EU is 38%. This research note provides an overview of current EU policy in relation to pensions through the EU Member States.
