Description

This study focused on the importance of gender equality in the realisation of economic rights and independence, including access to employment, appropriate working conditions and control over economic resources.

The report analysed part-time work and self-employment, demonstrating their effect on the economic independence of women and men, and on gender equality more broadly. Based on the results, EIGE proposed a set of indicators and sub-indicators on women and the economy, which were subsequently endorsed by the Council in June 2014.

This publication was the sixth report in EIGE’s review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action in the EU. It was prepared to support the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
