Cross-national Comparisons of the Labour Force Participation of Women Married to Unemployed Men
On the basis of the gap in the labour force participation rates of married women relative to married women with unemployed husbands in Britain, cross-national research was conducted with the aim to better understand this phenomenon. This paper begins with an analysis of data from various countries (in particular EC countries and the USA) and continues by providing the relevant details of the unemployment insurance regimes of these countries. The paper then describes the models which could be used to investigate this issue and the method that was here adopted. It finally concludes with an analysis of the results of the comparisons.--SCAD summary.
