Pełnomocnik Rządu do Spraw Równego Traktowania (The Government Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment)
Government Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment (Pełnomocnik Rządu ds Równego Traktowania/ PRRT)was established in April 2008 and further regulated by the Equal Treatment Act (Dz.U. 254/ 1700, 2010). This is a central administration unit, established within the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. It is led by Agnieszka Kozłowska-Rajewicz (state secretary). Plenipotentiary’s office is supported by a director, deputy-director, department for analysis and international cooperation, team for legal analysis and processing of claims and interventions, administrative and finance staff, support staff. The remit of the PRRT includes equal treatment (ET) with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, faith, worldview, disability, age or sexual orientation. The Act, in force since 1 January 2011, addresses Poland’s transposition of EU equality directives. The Plenipotentiary is tasked with: (1) the government’s ET policy; (2) comments on ET legislation; (3) analysis of the legal framework from the perspective of ET and intervention; (4) acting on unequal treatment; (5) analysis and evaluation of the legal and social situation in ET and coordinating tasks to achieve ET/preventing discrimination; (6) monitoring compliance of the ET principle; (7) promoting ET issues; (8) cooperating with non-governmental organisations, including trade unions and employers.
