Women’s` Section of the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia
Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia is a voluntary interest trade union organization of a higher level, which is systematically working on improving the quality of jobs, and living and working standards of its members and of all citizens of Croatia. It was established in 1990. Today it affiliates 17 branch trade unions with 110,000 members, and 60,000 retired persons, whose interests we also represent.UATUC Women’s Section is an interest group within the UATUC which advocates for gender equality in all spheres of social life, and is active especially on the improvement of the position of women in the area of employment and at the workplace. Women’ Section also promotes and encourages the inclusion of as many women as possible in trade union work and specific trade union activities with a view of achieving their proportional share in the UATUC and its affiliated trade unions’ decision-making bodies, and of greater influence on trade union policy-making.UATUC Women’s Section was established in 1991. It is a member of the Women’s Network Croatia (umbrella association of non-governmental women’s associations), as well as of the ITUC PERC Women’s Network for Central and Eastern Europe, and it participates in the informal coordination of Croatian women’s trade union groups. UATUC Women’s Section also has a regular cooperation with the Gender Equality Ombudsperson of the Republic of Croatia, Gender Equality Committee of the Croatian Parliament and with a number of non-governmental organizations as well as with the media.
