The Working Group for method development in Gender Equality and Just Progress

The Working Group for Method Development in Gender Equality at the Ministry of Industry, Employment and Communications began its work in 1998. Its task was to conceive, initiate and support new approaches to gender equality work. The Working Group has drawn on the experiences of others the field and also initiated method development projects. On result from the group was the publication "Just Progress" the first collection of methods and models for gender mainstreaming made by the Government. It contains a general model for a “strategic work on gender mainstreaming” and examples of how the Ministry of Health and Social affair developed its gender mainstreaming work. There are several methods on steering; Gender mainstreaming in the budget process; Balanced score cards; Gender Management Systems; LOTS; Indicators. Then there is methods for review and analysis; the 3R method, GERAC (JämKAS), Checklists. Finally the publications contains a section on how to deal with resistance. It mentions the need for support structures including seminars, training courses and experts but does not contain specific methods for it. It does not contain specific methods for stakeholder consultations.
