Strategia guvernamentală în domeniul protecţiei copilului în dificultate 2001-2004
Government's Strategy on child protection
The strategy proposed the adoption of a number of radical reforms that were meant to bring Romania to international standards of child welfare and protection, the priority being changing the "institutionalized" system into a "family" one. During this period, the reform consisted in closing large institutions and replace them with alternative services, preventing the separation of children from their families by developing support services and adaptating Romanian child protection system to European standards by harmonizing Romanian legislation.
