The article discusses different views of Hungarian journalists and women’s rights NGOs’ representatives on the most appropriate approach to discussing the issue of domestic violence and to portraying its victims. The current media practice seems largely negative in that it often portrays violence against women as a romantic act and blames the victims, thereby influencing public discourse on the issue negatively.
