The Croatian Family Policy in the European Context
Hrvatska obiteljska politika u europskom kontekstu
The paper discusses the internal and external determinants and the development of the family policy of Croatia. In the first part the authors define family policy, analyse the influence of demographic trends and employment of women on the family structure and relations. They claim that a modern family policy should rely on the employment of both parents (the model of two breadwinners) and that family services should be developed in order to provide support for the employed parents. That means that the classic approach in family policy that is dominated by cash benefits should be abandoned. In the second part the authors analyse the Croatian family policy.
