Scottish Governments' Equality Impact Assessments
Equality Impact Assessments Scotland
Aims and objectives
The public sector equality duty specific duties require the Scottish Government to assess the impact of applying a proposed new or revised policy or practice against the needs mentioned in the equality duty, where and to the extent necessary to fulfil the duty. As such, they have undertaken equality impact assessments on a range of topics, including domestic and gender violence and forced marriages.
Results and impact
Evaluation documents concerning the results of this method have not yet been found
The most recent Equality impact assessment directly related to gender is a 2009 assessment on the Gender-based Violence Employee PIN Policy. The policy was designed primarily to promote the welfare of staff affected by current or with previous experience of gender-based violence, aiming to ensure that organisations respond effectively to employees who may be perpetrators of such abuse. Another EQIA, on forced marriage, also deals with a gender component, specifically the issue of violence against women.
