To monitor the implementation of the Federal Equality Act and to meet accountability obligations
Results and impact
To date, two comprehensive monitoring reports have been presented to the German Bundestag: The first monitoring report ('Erster Erfahrungsbericht der Bundesregierung zum Bundesgleichstellungsgesetz') covering the period 01/07/2001 – 30/06/2004 was presented in December 2006; the second monitoring report ('Zweiter Erfahrungsbericht der Bundesregierung zum Bundesgleichstellungsgesetz') covering the period 01/07/2004 – 30/06/2009 was presented in December 2010.
German Federal Government
As stipulated in the Federal Equality Act (paragraph 25), the federal government must present reports assessing the degree of implementation of the Act to the German Bundestag every four years. The report includes an assessment of the situation of women in comparison to the situation of men in public administration bodies.
