Describes the Government's work against FGM and other harmful traditions. At the end of the text she introduces a new theme: "Lately it has become obvious that more women - especially younger women - who have been subjected to FGM are opposed, not only to the practice itself, but opposed to the fact that they are being categorized as 'mutilated' and disfigured. This must be taken seriously in a respectful way." Thus the international field of research and preventive work lean toward the FGM/C terminology, such as UNFPA and UNICEF. The Government agrees with this, which is not to say that we leave the Swedish word of 'konsstympning' [mutilation] in favour of 'omskarelse' [circumcision].
