Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation through German Development Assistance
Bekämpfung der Genitalverstümmelung durch die deutsche Entwicklungszusammenarbeit
The Federal Parliament recognizes that approximately 30,000 women and girls living in Germany are affected or threatened by genital mutilation.
The issue of migration from African and Asian countries is the focus of the industrialized countries, said in a response to the Federal Government (17/6217) to an inquiry by the parliamentary group Alliance 90/The Greens (17/5985). Since 1999, the German development policy in the ten member countries has invested about 14 million € for measures to overcome female genital mutilation, according to the response further.
