This document was annexed to the Rapport d'information au nom de la mission d'evaluation de la politique de prevention et de lutte contre les violences faites aux femmes. FGM is addressed by Prof. Armelle Andro (demographer, INED) on pp. 259-267, who provides a thorough description of the first comprehensive survey carried out on the issue in 2007-2009; Dr. Isabelle Gillette-Faye, pp. 147-156, who addresses sociological and quantitative trends as regards FGM in France, and the main features and pending challenges of the current policy framework, and concludes with recommendations; Emmanuelle Piet who refers to the police and judiciary treatment of FGM on pp. 45-66; Annie Soussy, head of a medical unit, who expounds the assistance provided to victims of FGM by the public health system (pp.107-123). FGM is referred to in many other points of the document.
