The guidebook is a source of information and reference for personnel at relevant organisations and is a basis for interprofessional training.
It can be used as a source of information about relevant legislation and methods of understanding, detecting and dealing with violence against women with disabilities as well as to set up a common training programme for the so- cial services, healthcare providers, NGO:s, youth guidance centres, etc., of a municipality or region..
It describes the forms that violence can take among female victims with disabilities, including children, women, men and elderly, by taking a look at violence from various points of view based on the knowledge currently available. It considers violence in intimate relationships and does a theoretical description of the problem. Also it considers female victims of violence with disabilities and the scope of the issues involved, their particularly risk, the nature of the violence, the consequences and possible reason that few victims seek help.
The Guide also includes information on how to detect and ask about violence, signs and symptomes of having been subjected to violence, and accessibility of support services.
Specific support areas, such as the healthcare system, social services or the responsibility of the Judicial system are also addressed. It presents the current state of research on prevention and treatment methods for women with disabilities. The guidebook also present case reports.

The objective of the guide is to raise awareness and skills among various the practitioners of various professions, in order that professionals will be in a better position to provide the protection, support and assistance that women need once they have absorbed the information in this guide.
