The programme aimed at instigating processes of change among Somali by identification and training of key persons and "voorlichters" Own Language and Culture (Voorlichters Eigen Taal en Cultuur VETC'ers) who organised a series of information meetings; the creation of a platform where national and international developments on FGM were exchanged and to have a feedback group to exchange and collect experiences and initiatives, and finally to build knowledge and capacities in the regular care to deal with all aspects of FGM. The activities targeted African communities, the Dutch health care sector and fostered dialogue between those two groups. The programme was done from 1999 to 2002.
