PERSPECTIVE: Peer Education Routes for School Pupils to Enhance Conciousness of Tackling and Impeding women Violence in Europe

The awareness raising campaign that was implemented in 2010 in Greece was entitled: "Violence is never justified: let's build healthy relationships today". Messages developed by the students themselves during the peer education activities were used in the campaign.
The campaign consisted of:
- a TV spot,
- a Radio spot,
- notebooks,
- posters,
- pens and pencils.
The Radio and TV spot was broadcasted in Greece for free (as a social message) by the most popular and nationwide channels. The gadgets were distributed to students, schools and other youth places as well as to teachers and other school-related professionals.

Aims and objectives
Aim: Prevention of gender based violence among young generation.
Objectives: to raise awareness of adolescents to the phenomenon of gender based violence and to promote the development of healthy relationships with ultimate goal the shaping of attitudes and behaviors of zero tolerance towards violence via the implementation of:
• school-based peer education activities and
• an information and awareness raising campaign through TV and Radio spots, Posters and other gadgets (e.g. notebooks, pencils) by the use of key messages developed by the students
to raise awareness of adolescents on Gender Based Violence (GBV)
The project was implemented in 5 countries (Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Germany)

Results and impact
• The TV spot was broadcasted nationally by 4 channels (MEGA, ANT1, NET, APLHA) resulting in 74 broadcasts in total.
• The Radio spot was broadcasted nationally by 12 Radio Stations (Nitro Radio 102.5, Sfera 102.2, Derti 98.6, Λάμψη, Best, Εν Λευκώ, VFM, Galaxy FM, Real FM, SKAI,
Happy Radio, Love Radio) resulting in 360 broadcasts in total.
• Out of the 500 copies of the posters produced, the 470 were disseminated
• A total of 8.700 Pencils were disseminated to students, 2.900 pens, and 5.500 Notebooks
In addition, EAVN prepared and sent out to numerous journalists, professionals and organizations a press release aiming to announce the implementation of the awareness raising campaign that was conducted nationally in the framework of the PERSPECTIVE project. As a result of the publication of the press release to the media, EAVN received responses from teachers and Health Education Teachers/Coordinators who expressed their interest in the project and their willingness to organize teachers’ trainings and students’ workshops. Apart from that, the President of EAVN provided an interview to a radio station (984 FM Radio, March 2011). Additionally, a journalist mentioned the awareness raising campaign during his live radio show at En Leuko Radio (87.7 FM Radio, March 2011).
