Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): Manual for relevant professionals
Vrouwelijke Genitale verminking: handleiding voor de betrokken beroepssectoren / Mutilations Génitales Féminines: Guide à l'usage des professions concernées
This manual is published by the federal authorities responsible for health, protection, food and environment. The development was coordinated by GAMS, and it was reviewed by a team of experts of different relevant sectors. It is a source of information and sensitization, and it targets all professionals in Belgium who might be confronted with (potential) victims of FGM. It aims to help professionals to get insight into the problems and socio-cultural context of FGM, to better support families involved, to support circumcised women medically or psychologically, and to contribute to the development of measures to prevent FGM.
