One of the world’s biggest challenges is the gender gap. At every stage of life, men’s and women’s life conditions are still highly unequal, in terms of health, financial situation, education, family life, political influence and opportunities for participating in the labour market on equal terms.
According to the ‘Innovation Union’ strategy, failing to give men and women equal opportunities leads to mismanagement of human resources, skills and both sexes’ willingness to take part in the development of society. European society is facing great challenges and research can play a crucial part in solving the problems concerned.
